Poole Quay 21st March - 13th April 2008

Images of sunsets over Poole Harbour were captured daily throughout winter 2007/8 using a number of publicly accessible web-cams. Colours were selected directly from the collected images to produce a sequence that represents three months of sunsets. The colour sequence was then translated back into light using LED’s forming a rolling wave of colour.

Hello Simon,

It was lovely to meet you on Saturday, and we were pleased to participate with the waves in your art installation!

Thanks for inviting us, we were glad to view the installation from the water and look forward to seeing further works. I loved the colours, they glowered and were harmonious in the context.

What interested me particularly was when I read the notice by the installation after the trip as it mentioned geographer Vaughn Cornish. (I have a (physical) geography degree and one of my specialisms was coastal geomorphology).
The one thing that spoiled you work was all those other lights – someone should have arranged a power cut.
Also the colours and the transitions reminded me of the beginning and end of time (yes, I was present at both the creation and the end of the universe!)
So thanks for the invitation. We had a good evening,

I thought Saturday was very successful.

Would you be interested in coming to talk to The Arts Poole about your experiences later in the year? It would be very informal, about 20 mins plus questions, in a function room in the Blue Boar pub.

Thanks for a great evening. It was special seeing the waves of colour on the shore from the waves at sea
