Poole Quay 21st March - 13th April 2008

Images of sunsets over Poole Harbour were captured daily throughout winter 2007/8 using a number of publicly accessible web-cams. Colours were selected directly from the collected images to produce a sequence that represents three months of sunsets. The colour sequence was then translated back into light using LED’s forming a rolling wave of colour.

Please click on 'What do you think' to view comments and click on 'post a comment' at the bottom of the page to let me know your thoughts.

It was fantastic to see this installation live and working. The venue was crying out for you to come along and light it up for it's last days before it gets flattened.

The artwork itself is mesmerizing and has a calming effect. The sunset colours draw you in and one feels like you are near the see and turn around and you are!

Well done, you are a talented man.

It was really exciting seeing the installation from the boat at a distance with the colours all blending together, starting quite dull to bright colours of a beautiful summers evening sunset. The motion was very calming like waves of the sea coming in and out.

My daughter, Rhiannon, age 4, said, "Wow!! it is beautiful!" and it reminded her of a rainbow.

I was impressed how you managed to turn that squat little building into a thing of beauty, and approaching the installation from the water now seems like the only possible way to do justice to it, not only because of the impact of watching the distance closing between you and it, but also because you have built up to it by witnessing the real sunset from the harbour.

thank you simon. the boat trip was a lovely original way to look at the work. i didn't anticipate how cold it would be (or wear enough layers)so i didn't hang around at the end. but i came back 3 more times during the next week and was able to spend more time there. viewed from the pavement the effect was wonderfully calming and soothing. viewed from right up close (inches actually) i was absolutely enveloped in the light and totally lifted. i hope not too many people were passing to see me gently swaying for 15 minutes and more! thank you, more like this please!
